These include Invisalign, the virtually invisible orthodontic treatment method that uses clear plastic aligners to straighten teeth; traditional metal braces, self-ligating braces, clear braces and lingual braces. Dr Smith is a leading provider of specialist orthodontic treatment in Tasmania. At Scott Smith Orthodontics we have an enthusiastic and dedicated team who are committed to each and every patient. Dr Scott Smith Dr Scott Smith (BDS FRACDS MOrthRCS DocClinDent(Ortho)) Scott is our Principal Orthodontist with a dental career spanning over 25 years. He started Scott Smith Orthodontics (SSO) in 2008 with the aim to provide dedicated community based specialist orthodontic care in Launceston and the northwest coast of Tasmania. Graduating with a Dental Degree (BDS) from the University of Adelaide in 1992, Scott completed his fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (FRACDS) in 1999. Scott then dedicated 8 years to paediatric dental care as a hospital staff dentist, lecturer to the University of Adelaide and head of the dental unit at the Adelaide Women's and Children's Hospital.
Experienced in working with children and teenagers, Scott is a fantastic communicator. In 2006 Scott completed a 3 year full time postgraduate Doctorate in Clinical Dentistry (DocClinDent(Ortho)), qualifying him as a specialist in orthodontics and moved to Tasmania with his wife Julianne and 2 boys to enjoy working in a smaller community and embrace the outdoor activities on offer in Tasmania.
Dr Smith is an avid road cyclist and mountain biker. When he is not working in orthodontics, you will often spot him out and about around Launceston and the north coast on his bike. Scott is a nationally registered Orthodontist and a member by examination of the following organisations: Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Dental Surgeons (FRACDS) Member in Orthodontics of the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh, UK) (MOrthRCS) Certified member of the Australian Orthodontic Board with his specialist practice dedicated solely to orthodontics Scott maintains professional registration and membership of: Australian Dental Association (ADA) Australian Society of Orthodontics (ASO) Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
